RapidFit+ integrates functionality into fixtures for small parts

Belgian interior automotive parts maker Recticel approached Materialise to build a fixture for small parts. This simple request proved to be a big challenge, and an even greater opportunity. Familiar with making fixtures for larger parts such as car bumpers, this new project called on RapidFit+ to exercise outside-the-box creativity to demonstrate it could handle small parts, while integrating functionality.

Plastal Ghent was in a difficult position when a Volvo front bumper measurement fixture that they had manufactured by another fixture supplier was not representative of the on-car assembly scenario. Plastal Ghent made a wise choice by contacting the RapidFit+ team at Materialise to rectify the situation, who were able to modify the existing fixture to provide an exact simulation of the on-car positioning of the front bumper in only 2 weeks!
